Aviva announces 2010 structure and teams

Aviva has announced the updated structure that its UK business will take from 1 January 2010, following the news that it will be bringing its UK life and general insurance businesses closer together.

Mark Hodges will become UK CEO, and Toby Strauss will be the new CEO of UK Life. Also reporting to Hodges will be David McMillan, new CEO of UK General Insurance; Cathryn Riley, new UK commercial director; and Craig Thornton, new UK chief risk officer. Thornton will be responsible for leading the risk management and governance agenda of the UK business.

Aviva will be maximise the benefits of scale in the UK by adopting a shared approach to customers, and the new leadership team will maintain the momentum gathered by the UK Life and General Insurance businesses over the past two years.

"This new structure will underpin Aviva's future growth in the UK, releasing the full potential of our brand and scale as the UK's leading insurer," commented Hodges. "By bringing our UK businesses closer together under a single and highly experienced leadership team we can serve our customers, partners and our people more effectively and deliver profitable growth."
York, Norwich and Eastleigh will remain as the head office locations for the life, general insurance and healthcare businesses for Aviva respectively.
