Appointments update 21 January

- Nikko Asset Management has appointed Naoki Kamiyama as chief strategist. He has over 30 years’ experience in the securities and asset management industries. Kamiyama has developed a strong reputation among Japanese and non-Japanese institutional investors and has ranked highly in investors’ polls of analysts.

Kamiyama previously spent more than five years working at Nikko Asset Management and its predecessor firms, until 2000. After that, he worked for Merrill Lynch Japan Securities as chief strategist, in addition to serving at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Securities.

- CFA institute has appointed Paul Smith as president and CEO and will lead an organisation of 127,000 investment professionals. He has more than 30 years leadership experience in the asset management industry, including over 18 years in Asia.

With extensive management and business experience at global organisations, Smith will continue to support CFA Institute efforts to champion for ethical behaviour in investment markets as a respected source of knowledge in the global financial community.

- Old Mutual Wealth has enhanced its support for advisers with the appointment of two more pension specialists to its specialist sales team, Roddy Munro and Tim Mason. Mason joins from Just Retirement where he spent 3 years as key accounts director. Munro joins the firm after 24 years at Scottish Widows.

They will cover the North region, with the aim to support advisers through the upcoming pension changes and beyond, through workshops, forums and one-to-one sessions focussing on practical advice ideas for use with clients.

- Rowanmoor Group has promoted Sarah Nightingale to the role of group SIPP operations manager. Nightingale is responsible for SIPP and family pension trust administration in both Salisbury and Bolton.
