Aggregate deficit of DB schemes decreases by £33.5bn

The aggregate deficit of the 6,316 schemes in the PPF 7800 Index decreased to £211.2bn at the end of January 2013, from a deficit of £244.7bn at the end of December.

According to latest statistics, funding ratios rose from 81.3 per cent to 83.7 per cent over the same period.

Within the index itself, total scheme assets amounted to £1084.3bn at the end of January. Scheme assets rose by 1.8 per cent, with an annual increase of 6.0 per cent.

Total scheme liabilities were £1295.5bn at the end of last month, a decrease of 1.1 per cent over the month.
